Senior Ecologists

As a result of ongoing growth and new clients, we require 3 new Senior Ecologists to join our highly respected Ecology team. Based in either Edinburgh, Inverness or Mold, (North Wales), you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of exciting, high profile and technically challenging developments. Often within the some of the most picturesque regions in the UK.

You will work across a diverse range of projects in sectors including renewable energy, infrastructure and property, supported by a multi-disciplinary team, dedicated support teams and a structured professional development programme.

The Position

In collaboration with Ecology colleagues and other environmental disciplines, you will play a key role in the delivery of the Ecological/Ornithological services that Atmos provides, including:

  • Scoping and Project Management of a range of projects from small to large scale;
  • Planning and managing ecological surveys using various survey methods;
  • Resource planning and financial reporting;
  • Technical reporting and tendering;
  • Negotiating with statutory agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders;
  • Building/maintaining relationships with clients;
  • Business generation and promotion of Atmos Consulting to new clients;
    Mentoring of junior members of the Atmos Ecology Team;
  • Maintaining your own and others' Continuing Professional Development; and
  • Operating at all times in accordance with the CIEEM Professional Code of Conduct.


The Person

We are seeking someone who is passionate about the role Ecology plays in enabling sustainable development and can meet the following requirements:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline and ideally be a full member of CIEEM, you will have a proven project experience together with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Fully conversant with the framework of legislation and guidance within the UK with strong skills in habitat surveys and/or ECoW. Experience of the protected species licensing process would be advantageous;
  • Excellent report writing skills with experience of authoring a wide range of technical reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments;
  • Accurate record-keeping along with good project management skills with ability to think outside of the box in your approach to problem solving;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to advise clients on technical issues both strategically and in detail when required; and
  • A strong communicator with ability to nurture and build relationships both with internal teams and external clients.
